Quicky: Is Google planning to penalize SEO?


According to comments made by Google engineer Matt Cutts at a panel discussion Google is planning to penalize SEO. Or at least overly-SEO'd sites.

It remains to be seen what this means for sites using aggressive SEO such as blog comment spam and link building schemes. It's also interesting to see if this opens up (another) avenue for negative SEO.

MegaUpload takedown


The popular file hosting cloud service MegaUpload was taken down on January 19th after four of their staff were charged with copyright infringement and conspiracy to commit racketeering. On the face of it, that's nothing unusual, but there is much more going on than meets the eye.

Lets take a step back and look at what's been going on.
